It has been some time since my last update. As is true for most people, 2020 has been a difficult time. This year, in July, my family lost our 21-year-old daughter, Alejandra. We miss her beyond measure, and I have taken these months to grieve and gain perspective. I cannot say I am anywhere near either; I am on a journey never experienced by me.

The Benjamin Bus Project continues to do its work. A successful memorial fundraiser occurred in July, as well as three Facebook fundraisers through Network for Giving and several recurring monthly donations.

We are aiding our students’ families during the pandemic, including food and medications. School has been closed and continues to be closed now due to the holidays. Uncertainty remains about how Guatemala chooses to handle in-class instruction for the next term.

Caminios de Esperanza is planning Christmas activities for the students, families and teachers, which we will support as needed. Your ongoing support and prayers are appreciated greatly. We can make a big difference in the lives of these children and to the community at large. Giving Tuesday is just around the corner. We invited your donations.

Thank you,
Charla Wistos
